November 8: Our national poomsae players are just back from Incheon, Korea and the World Championships.  Christi Burke and Jim Null moved their seeding in the world to 8th.  Although Matthew Dunlap finished at 19th, he was able to advance his placement by 8 places.  The US team won the only medals from the western hemisphere with 2 bronze and a silver.  For more details go to our martial arts page and see tournament results.

October 15:  Horizon Achievement Academy announces an addition to our martial arts development program by acquiring Trident Martial Systems, an instructor development and certification program designed to further curriculum development and training for the beginner thru Instructor level.  Trident Martial Systems offers training and certification in Taekwondo, Hapkido, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, and the Philippine Martial Arts of Kali & Arnis.  In addition we will be adding to our coach and instructor staff Steve Mukensnabl - Chief Instructor and owner of Premier Martial Arts in Woodland, WA.  For bio see "coaching staff".

July 9th thru 15th, US National Taekwondo Championships:  Our Technical Team competing at it's first Nationals brought back 4 gold medals and 1 bronze medal.  3 members did not place but displayed outstanding technique while competing in poomsae for the first time at a National event.  Our sparring competitors did not place but were involved in some of the most exciting matches of the tournament.  Congratulations to all for an outstanding job!  (See photo gallery on "Taekwondo" page).

Saturday & Sunday, June 23rd & 24th - HTT Garage Sale:  We had a very successful weekend of fundraising with our garage sale.  A big "thank-you" to Jose' & Lucy Mendez for hosting our event.  There were several items left, and many people have more to donate to our sale, so we will have one more weekend for our garage sale.  This Saturday & Sunday, June 30th & July 1st at 2311 NW 6th Ave. Battle Ground, WA. from 8 AM to approx. 4 PM.  All donations will be accepted, please contact Christi Burke-Maves 360-600-1313 to coordinate your donation.

Saturday, April 28th - Oregon State Taekwondo Championships: Matthew Dunlap had a very successful day at the Oregon State Championships in Gresham, OR.  The USAT National Poomsae Team Member won gold in both Poomsae (forms) and Sparring.  This comes just two weeks after his strong performance at the USAT National Qualifier in which he won a gold medal in both junior and adult Poomsae (forms) divisions, and was a quarterfinalist in the junior and a bronze medalist in the adult Sparring divisions.  Jim Null, a HTT Technical competitor also won a gold medal, and Emmi Angelo, also a HTT Technical competitor won a bronze medal at the Oregon State Championships.

Saturday, April 28th - Women's Health Conference: The annual Women's Health Conference was held at the Oregon Convention Center, sponsored by Oregon Health Sciences University.  Naim Hasan was invited to speak at this event on "Motivation".  Several hundred women attending this event gave Naim a thunderous applause in appreciation for his life coaching advice.  Christi Burke-Maves also attended this event at Naim's request as an example of someone, who through proper motivation, achieved athletic success.
